Visit to Petworth..and an unidentified escape bird!

After visiting Woolbeding in the morning we went off to Petworth for the afternoon.  Regretably the sun deserted us but at least there was no rain.

We walked up the hill towards the house..

and then down to the lake.  We walked clockwise around the lake

where we spotted this bird.. obviously an escape but no idea what it is..

Edit: I now know this to be an Australian Shelduck

and a drink with a scone for tea.  Not up to the usual Petworth standard but quite tasty nonetheless.

A rather clever wooden carved mole!

and finally home... a great day out in excellent company..

We've had a couple of ruddy shelduck in Nottingham, but not ass spectacular as that bird. BLack swan best escapee I've seen.
