The forecast for today wasn't brilliant, but we headed off to the station to get a train for Modena.. I shall never fully understand the working of some Italian ticket machines!! In the end we queued for tickets at the ticket office... thought we were going to be there all day... but finally, tickets purchased and off we went.
The Ducal Palace.. now home to the Italian Military Academy ...
Rather liked this water feature - as did the pigeons..
These barrels of balsamic vinegar which is produced widely in Modena..
A Memorial...
The Duomo ....
Into the Piazza XX Septembre for coffee and found this statue of a boy with a duck under his foot!! Mr Ponders protests!!
Church of San Pietro
A monument in the middle of a roundabout!
was amused by these seats outside a cafe!!
Love the arcades.. handy to keep hot sun off and the rain!!
We had lunch :) ... Mr Ponders had 'just the one' ...
After some lunch, we headed off to the Ducal Gardens... where there was a pond.. we thought it was devoid of birds until Messrs Ponders and Quacks espied relatives!!
And as it was now really raining, we headed off to the station for our short journey back to Bologna.
A good day out, despite the grey..and the mysteries of the ticket machine!!!
