My blog is mostly about wildlife, particularly birds, walking, days out, all growing things and anything else that comes to mind.

Muncaster Castle and Flying Owls

Today we went over the mountain tops to Muncaster Castle.
Enroute it rained, the cloud was very low and therefore it was very misty.  It made for some 'exciting' driving!!  We were not far from Scarfell Pike which was behind us.. bathed in mist and low cloud.
(The road we drove along is on the right of the picture!)

There's an Owl Sanctuary at the castle and a display was taking place as we arrived.  The are in whcih the birds were flying was quite small so not able to get many flight shots.  The light was dreadful

I wasn't able to get the name of this owl.. it was flying as we arrived.

Burroughing Owls - Lynford and Christie

Great Grey Owl

Boobook Owl - 2 months old

and then on to the Castle for a tour - no pictures allowed inside and no postcards of the interior either.  The Library was amazing.

We walked past the wildflower meadow..

and the Fairy trail

Sadly our last day - go home tomorrow.  It has been one of the best holidays, mostly due to the company of my daughter... you've been just great.. thank you xx
