The Autumn colour was amazing..
We watched as 4 cormorants fished, then all flew off into the same tree - a silhouette - the light was dire!!
WE had quick bite to eat.. I was good and didn't indulge in a scone today (silly me.. they're always so good at Winkworth) and then we set off for a short post lunch wander.
This flight of steps leading to the seat at the top is carved out of a fallen tree
A short break.. Mr Ponders discovered some hazel nuts..
"Nuts, whole hazelnuts, Cadbury's take em and they cover them in chocolate!"
Think these represent hummingbirds..
The Fox.. for Dr Wilfrid Fox who gave Winkworth Arboretum to the National Trust in 1952
Great to be out... there was no wind, wasn't too cold, it was dry and occasionally we glimpsed the sun and a tiny portion of blue sky...
