Bateman's House & Garden... a bit of a foggy visit..

Having assessed the forecast, which said mist clearing by about 9.00... we headed off for Bateman's.  The further south we drove, the fog (of which there was no sign when we left), got thicker and thicker.

Bateman's ( a Jacobean house ) was the home of Rudyard Kipling.. it's almost as though he was still there... a very 'cosy' house and easy to feel it as a 'home'

We took a detour to avoid heavy traffic, so driving along country lanes in this fog was, to say the least, challenging.

However we arrived dead on time.. and walked down to the cafe ...

Our first port of call was a scone... hot out of the oven and delicious and fruity.... thank you to the baker @ Bateman's

and then off around the garden..

Mr Ponder's wasn't that impressed with the weather.. but enjoyed the view nonetheless..

The daffodils & crocuses were lovely..

The mill pond was somewhat murky... but given the heavy rain recently...

and into the mill house...

and back out for a further wander..

Now time for a visit to the house.

The fog had just begun to lift as we came out of the house and the sun was coming out to play.  We decided to head off for Scotney Castle for the afternoon... and that's a post coming soon...
