My blog is mostly about wildlife, particularly birds, walking, days out, all growing things and anything else that comes to mind.

Sunny but cold & frosty at RHS Wisley..

Met a very good friend of my today at RHS Wisley.  Some of the areas were inaccessible as a new tarmac path was being laid but we had a pleasant wander....

Other areas had been cleared in anticipation of the start of building work for a new visitor entrance which is due for completion in 2018.  Plants having been moved to other places in anticipation.

There's to be a lighting display and the 'flower' lights for the Christmas Glow event  were much in evidence... they are very large.. I didn't take pictures of many of them.. not really sure about the size of these.... just my opinion.

So we just had a wander

 - we also visited the Orchard area where say many Fieldfares and Mistle Thrushes... lovely to see so many of them... no pics.... flying too fast around the trees and too high.

A small flock of Long-tailed Tits was good to see...

Frosted plants..

Walked around the Pinetum and along the river back to the cafe for a sandwich for lunch.

Mr Mallard was patrolling the outside seating area of the cafe..

and back out through the visitor entrance.

Lovely stroll in the winter sunlight..

Those apples will be very welcome for winter birds! Gosh it was freezing this morning. My hands were purple and agonised when I cycled in.
