A day in Spello....and an unidentified Bee

Caught a bus to the local station and then a train to Spello.... just a taster...






If anyone can identify this bee..... it was very very large!!

Hi Tricia, it looks like Violet Carpenter Bee Xylocopa violacea that has a stripe of yellow pollen on its thorax. That will be from the plants that it pollinates...Google the bee, Its a big one I have seen in Hungary before...

It could be the 'Carpenter Bee' Tricia.

The bee was covered in pollen!
