Walking where St. Francis walked - Assisi

Our first trip out and off to Assissi we went.  Caught the bus and it was a picturesque ride.  Pity the bus driver forgot to stop at the airport and had to come back a bit for new passengers!!

By the Temple of Minerva

A decorative ceiling in a passage way between two buildings

We wandered through the hilly streets...

The views were stunning!!

Then we got to the Basilica del Francesco - no photos inside were permitted (we found that this was to be the norm in most churches) but it had many frescoes..

We continued our stroll around the town...

A visit to Santa Chiara (no pictures)

Hunger then demanded our attention and we had lunch at a lovely restaurant called Mediovo.  A lovely meal but as I'd had a splitting headache all morning, it was water and not wine for me!!

and as we stood high up looking at the view, Pete saw this Scare Swallowtail land on some Valerian growing out of the top of the wall below us.... wonderful to watch

Duomo of San Rufino

and then we journeyed back to the hotel from which this was a constant view

and out for an evening stroll and a meal... by this time the headache had gone and I was back to normal!

This was our starter for two.... yummy but very filling - a meal in itself!

and gradually the lights came on....

our first trip out and a really lovely day... we were to return...

Looks like a gorgeous place to visit, and the weather was obviously on your side. Love the Swallowtail photos. And the wine ones were good too !! Glad you had a good time.
