Today we headed off for the Buckfast area and our first port of call was the Butterfly Farm and Otter Sanctuary. A few flutterbies about and the few otters were nice but we weren't impressed with their surroundings.
We followed this by a round trip from Buckfastleigh to Totnes on the South Devon Railway. The route took us along the River Dart and it was a very relaxed hour and for me, a chance to see the scenery (as a break from driving), as we chugged along. The railway is run purely by volunteers and a great job they do.
After a snacky lunch there we headed up the road (all of four minutes drive) to Buckfast Abbey. It's amazing mixture of buildings but the Abbey itself is not one of the most attractive. However, the gardens are lovely with many beautiful trees.
Where to tomorrow? - ah, tomorrow is another day
In the Butterfly House - a Bengalese Finch
Along the railway line
and the Abbey
and the Abbey's sensory garden - which was full
of wonderfully scented flowers, and being June, roses
contributed to much of the scent - lovely!
Sweet Peas
Grasses
and, of course, the Roses

Your blog is bringing back happy memories of holidays gone by. We took our family there when they were young and we used to camp in that area. BW Goosey
Wow! Great pictures Tricia.
